Generally, weddings take place at the Embassy on Thursday afternoons on prior appointment. To make an appointment, the parties must provide a certificate (“Prøvingsattest”) issued by the Norwegian tax authorities – see http://www.skatteetaten.no/no/Alt-om/Folkeregistrering/Ekteskap2/.
When applying for the certificate, it should be specified that the wedding will take place at a Norwegian Foreign Mission.
On the day of the wedding, the parties must produce the original certificate (“Prøvingsattest”), their valid passports and proof that both parties are in the UAE legally (residence or tourist visa).
The marriage ceremony may be carried out in Norwegian or English. Following the ceremony, the Embassy will inform the appropriate Norwegian authorities for registration of the marriage, and these authorities will issue an official Marriage Certificate to the parties.
